Analysis Essay Choice

In Judy Brady's article "I Want a Wife", Judy goes into detail of what having a wife is to her. The article describes the wife as somewhat of a disposable maid that caters to the spouse. As Judy describes "If, by chance, I find another person more suitable as a wife than the wife I already have, I want the liberty to replace my present wife with another one."(362) A description of a wife so selfness, its inhumane.

Christina Hoff Sommer's article "Men --- It's in Their Nature" talks about the resilience of violence, aggression, & spatial reasoning skills that boys naturally display as opposed to girls. The effort's of feminists and equal rights activists to create a sameness in the minds of males and females seems to be fruitless as Christina states "The natural differences between men and women suggest there will never be mathematical parity in all fields."(367)

I decided on using Christina's article as the idea of natural traits in boys interested very much. I'd like to look into it more and find out other traits that are opposite in boys and girls.

  1. I chose the same article that you did to write my analysis about. I really thought that "I Want A Wife" was pretty amusing.
It was interesting to read your summaries and how they are similar and differ from mine. Good job!

  2. Hector,
Your choice of using "disposable maid" was a good use of powerful words with powerful meanings.

I chose the same article as you and look forward to comparing and contrasting our works.

Do you think Sommer's article has more weight behind it because it was written by a woman and not a man?
